Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

Why Did the Disbelievers of Makkah Call You a Soothsayer?

Since you ﷺ also conveyed news of the unseen, the disbelievers of Makkah thought that perhaps a jinn or a devil was providing you with such information. Once, when you fell ill and could not get up for the night prayer (Tahajjud) for two or three nights, Abu Lahab’s wife (Auwra bint Harb, the sister of Abu Sufyan) came to you and said: "Muhammad ﷺ! I think your devil has abandoned you. He hasn’t come to you for two or three nights." At that time, Allah Almighty revealed these verses: ﴿والضحي.. ماقليٰ تك﴾ ( [بخاري، كتاب التفسير، سورة والضحيٰ] )
And the disbelievers are being told that your assumption is wrong. How could it be possible for a devil to turn a person away from polytheism, idol worship, atheism, and irreligion, and instead teach him the pure worship and oneness of Allah? To instill in him a sense of responsibility and accountability before Allah? To guide him towards a pure life, justice, piety, and noble character?
