Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
27. O you who believe! Do not betray Allah and the Messenger knowingly, nor betray your mutual trusts [28] among yourselves.
[28] Different Forms of Breach of Trust:
The scope of breach of trust is very vast. Trusts refer to all those covenants, agreements, and responsibilities that are imposed upon a person. For example, the covenant of man with Allah Almighty, the covenant of Meethaq, which, if fulfilled, a person cannot remain disobedient to Allah, and also those covenants which a person personally makes with Allah, such as vows and pledges, etc. Breach of trust with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is that a Muslim, regarding the matters on which he has pledged allegiance to him ﷺ, starts thinking of ways to escape from them. Agreements with people can also be related to religion, peace and war treaties, marriage contracts, and then, according to his position, various kinds of responsibilities are imposed upon a person. In short, the subject of this verse encompasses the entire life of a person. The meaning is that a person is being warned at every event of his life that he should not commit breach of trust under any circumstances. And especially, what the Muslims are being warned about in this verse is that they should not disclose the policy of Muslims regarding the disbelievers to the hypocrites or suspicious people, and should act with utmost caution in this matter. Because all kinds of war strategies are a trust from Allah and His Messenger, and to inform the disbelievers about such measures, even by hint or implication, that is, to disclose war secrets, is also a breach of trust. The consequences of which are extremely dangerous. Sometimes, even victory turns into defeat.
