وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ ﴿40﴾
But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires and lusts.
وَأَمَّا wa-ammā But as for
مَنْ man (him) who
خَافَ khāfa feared
مَقَامَ maqāma standing
رَبِّهِۦ rabbihi (before) his Lord
وَنَهَى wanahā and restrained
ٱلنَّفْسَ l-nafsa his soul
عَنِ ʿani from
ٱلْهَوَىٰ l-hawā the vain desires
