إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا ﴿31﴾
Verily, for the Muttaqûn, there will be a success (Paradise);

لِلْمُتَّقِينَ lil'muttaqīna for the righteous
مَفَازًا mafāzan (is) success

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

31. Indeed, for the righteous there is surely a place of success [20].

The Literal Meaning of ﴿مَفَازًا﴾:

﴿مَفَازًا﴾ ﴿فاز﴾ means to attain salvation and to reach a place of safety and well-being after being delivered from hardships. That is why ﴿فاز الرجل﴾ and ﴿فَوْزَ الرجل﴾ also mean to die and to perish, and the concept here is that a person, by dying, is delivered from the troubles and hardships of the world. Thus, the greatest success for the God-fearing is that they are saved from the calamities and pains of the Day of Resurrection and from the torment of Hell, and are brought to such a secure and safe place where even the heat of Hell's punishment cannot reach. As for entry into Paradise and the attainment of its blessings, that will be an additional reward by the grace and mercy of Allah. This subject has already been discussed at several places before.
