وَمَهِّلْهُمْ wamahhil'hum and allow them respite

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

And leave to Me those who deny, who are enjoying the comforts of life [12], and give them respite for a little while.

The Character of the Affluent:
It is evident that those who reject the message of the Prophets are usually these well-fed and prosperous people. The Quran has mentioned them in other places with the word "mutrafeen" (the affluent). Since these people have their own sphere of influence and a special status in society, and accepting the Prophet's message poses a threat to this status, they are the ones who lead the opposition to the Prophets' call. That is, you ﷺ should not worry about the opposition of such people. I will deal with them Myself. However, for now, they will be given some time to oppose, within which many kinds of wisdom are hidden.
