Those who were arrogant said: "Verily, we disbelieve in that which you believe in."

قَالَqālaSaid
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟is'takbarūwere arrogant
إِنَّاinnāIndeed we
بِٱلَّذِىٓbi-alladhīin that which
ءَامَنتُمāmantumyou believe
بِهِۦbihiin it
كَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelievers

[80] The Arrogance of the Nation and Mockery:
This too is a kind of mockery, that the arrogant people, who considered themselves extremely intelligent, would ask the weak Muslims who had believed: "How is it that you have believed in as reasonable the call of Salihؑ, which we do not understand and consider irrational?" The weak Muslims, displaying their courage of faith, replied that the very thing you call wrong, we have believed in as reasonable and true, and we truly consider him a Messenger of truth. The arrogant people said, "In any case, we can never accept your foolish words."
