And (remember) when your Lord declared that He would certainly keep on sending against them (i.e. the Jews), till the Day of Resurrection, those who would afflict them with a humiliating torment. Verily, your Lord is Quick in Retribution (for the disobedient, wicked) and certainly He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (for the obedient and those who beg Allâh’s Forgiveness).

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

167. And (remember) when your Lord declared [169] that He would surely send against the Children of Israel, until the Day of Resurrection, those who would afflict them with the worst torment." Indeed, your Lord is swift in punishment (when the appointed time comes), and indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.

The Historical Account of the Humiliation and Misery of the Jews:

The Arabic word "ta'adhdhana" has the same meaning as the notice given in our context, that is, Allah Almighty had warned the Jews that if they did not desist from their actions, He would impose upon them, until the Day of Judgment, such rulers who would continue to inflict various kinds of suffering upon them. These sufferings refer to their subjugated life; thus, the Jews were at times subjugated by Greek and Chaldean kings, at times became the target of the hardships of Nebuchadnezzar, who utterly destroyed Bayt al-Maqdis and took a large number of these Jews as slaves with him to Babylon. Then, before the Prophetic era, these people remained tributaries to the Magians. Then Allah imposed Muslim rulers over them. In short, despite being a wealthy nation, they could never attain a life of honor anywhere and always lived a life of humiliation as subjugated people. In the early twentieth century, they were severely beaten at the hands of Hitler, who mercilessly killed millions of Jews. In the middle of this very twentieth century, with the support of a few governments, they established their rule over a small area. Yet, even then, they did not attain peace, and near the Day of Judgment, when Dajjal will appear, they will be his helpers; then, at the hands of Sayyiduna ‘Isa ؑ and his Muslim companions, all of them will be put to the sword, as is evident from numerous authentic ahadith.
