سُوْرَةُ الْحَآقَّةِ
Surah Al-Haaqqa (69) — Ayah 17
وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌ ﴿17﴾

And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them.

17. And the angels will be on its sides, and on that Day, eight angels will bear the Throne of your Lord above them [13].
[13] That is, at present, the number of angels carrying the Throne of Allah is four. On that Day, eight angels will be carrying the Throne. As for how great this Throne is, the common belief is that the earth is encompassed by the first heaven. The second heaven is greater than the first and encompasses it. In this way, the seventh heaven encompasses the sixth. Then above it is the eighth heaven, which is also called the Kursi and the Sphere of Spheres. Then above it is the Throne of Allah, which, in terms of encompassing, may be called the ninth heaven. And Allah knows best what is correct. Despite such greatness, the Throne of Allah is, in any case, smaller than Allah, and only Allah is the Greatest. As for how the angels are carrying Allah’s Throne today, and why their number will be doubled on that Day—there is no need for us to be concerned about these matters. We only have faith in what Allah Himself has clearly informed us. There is no need to decrease or increase anything in it, nor to interpret it in any way. And all this will happen after the second blowing of the Trumpet, when all people will rise alive from their graves and gather in the Plain of Gathering for reckoning. At that time, Allah, the Exalted, will descend in His Majesty.
