لَهُمْ ۚ lahum to them
إِنَّ inna Indeed
كَيْدِى kaydī My plan

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

45. And I am giving them respite. Surely, My plan [21] is firm.

[21] ﴿كيد﴾ ﴿كاد﴾ means to secretly devise a plan to accomplish something, to plot or scheme, and ﴿كَيْدَ سَاحِرٍ﴾ means the tricks of a magician. If the purpose of such a plan is correct and good, then it is permissible, and if it is bad, then it is blameworthy. As for the plan of Allah, which they had no counter for, it was the same gradual entrapment (istidraj) mentioned in the previous verse, meaning that We continue to grant them respite and blessings. The more they mock the signs of Allah, instead of punishment, We keep showering them with blessings. And they do not even realize to what point of destruction they have reached. As soon as the measure of their sins is filled, We will seize them.
