Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
Certainly, there has been in them an excellent example for you to follow - for those who look forward to (the Meeting with) Allâh and the Last Day. And whosoever turns away, then verily, Allâh is Rich (Free of all needs), Worthy of all Praise.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
6. Indeed, there is an excellent example [13] for you in those people—for anyone who hopes for Allah and the Last Day. And whoever turns away, then surely Allah is Self-Sufficient and Praiseworthy in Himself [15].
[13] The Three Qualities of the Companions of Sayyiduna Ibrahim:
That is, Allah Almighty has mentioned three qualities regarding Sayyiduna Ibrahim ؑ and his followers. First, that they completely severed ties with the polytheists, and this severance was permanent, until the polytheist refrained from shirk. Second, they relied solely upon Allah. Third, they would pray for the ability to possess noble character and perform righteous deeds for themselves, and they would indeed act accordingly. After mentioning these qualities, it is stated that if you truly believe in Allah and the Hereafter and hope for the recompense of deeds from Him, then you too should act as they did.
[14] One meaning of ﴿تَوَلَّ﴾ is the same as mentioned in the translation. Its second meaning is to befriend, to form a friendship. That is, the person who, despite the exemplary model of Sayyiduna Ibrahim ؑ and his companions being worthy of imitation, and despite believing in Allah and the Hereafter and having hope, befriends the polytheists, then Allah has no concern for such a person’s faith. For He is self-sufficient. And this meaning is more relevant to the main subject.
[15] It is not the case that Allah is only praiseworthy if someone praises Him. He is not in need of anyone’s praise. For He is praiseworthy in His very essence. The one who praises Allah benefits himself by doing so. Nothing of Allah is improved by it, nor is anything diminished if He is not praised.
