Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
5. Our Lord! Do not make us a target [12] for the disbelievers (and their oppression). And our Lord! Forgive us. Surely, You alone are the Mighty, the Wise.
[12] Here, the word "fitnah" has been used, which has a very broad meaning. The meanings of "fitnah" can include trial, affliction, grief, disgrace, madness, lesson, punishment, illness—everything—and this word is generally used in a negative sense. In this regard, this sentence or supplication can have several meanings. One is clear from the translation. The second is that if, God forbid, the disbelievers prevail over us, they will not let us remain steadfast on our religion, and will become a cause for us to fall back into disbelief and polytheism. Also, they will think that they alone are on the true religion. The third meaning is that He grant us such noble character and righteous deeds that the disbelievers cannot point fingers at us or taunt us.
