They are those whom We gave the Book, Al-Hukm (understanding of the religious laws), and Prophethood. But if these disbelieve therein (the Book, Al-Hukm and Prophethood), then, indeed We have entrusted it to a people (such as the Companions of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) who are not disbelievers therein.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

89. These are the people to whom We gave the Book, judgment, and prophethood. [89] If these disbelievers deny these things, (it does not matter), We have entrusted this responsibility [90] to others who do not deny them.

[89]
Three Things Are Granted to the Prophets:

It is mentioned that the aforementioned Prophets were granted three things: first, a Book, meaning a divinely revealed guide; second, “Hukm,” which refers to the correct understanding of Allah’s Book, the method of acting upon it, the ways to apply this guidance in practical life, and the ability to make sound judgments in various disputes and cases; and third, Prophethood, which means guiding people according to this divine guidance.
[90] If these people do not believe, then let them not believe. In their place, Allah Almighty has created such servants of His who are appreciative of Our blessings, accept the truth, and do not turn away from any word of guidance. Such people are the true followers and successors of the Prophets. Just as these were the qualities of the followers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the Muhajirun and the Ansar.
