The Cattle · Meccan · Juz 7 · Page 132

It is only those who listen (to the Message of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), will respond (benefit from it), but as for the dead (i.e. disbelievers), Allâh will raise them up, then to Him they will be returned (for their recompense).
۞ إِنَّمَا innamā Only
يَسْتَجِيبُ yastajību respond
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who
يَسْمَعُونَ ۘ yasmaʿūna listen
وَٱلْمَوْتَىٰ wal-mawtā But the dead
يَبْعَثُهُمُ yabʿathuhumu will resurrect them
ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah
ثُمَّ thumma then
إِلَيْهِ ilayhi to Him
يُرْجَعُونَ yur'jaʿūna they will be returned

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

36. Only those who listen (with their hearts) will respond. As for the dead [41], Allah will resurrect them, then to Him they will be returned.

[41] Those who seek guidance listen attentively to your words, and then they accept guidance. But those whose hearts have died due to their stubbornness and obstinacy will not believe even after seeing a miracle. These people, while alive and of their own choice, will never turn to Allah. However, when they die and Allah brings them back to life, then they will be compelled to present themselves before Allah.
