The Cattle · Meccan · Juz 7 · Page 131

Nay, it has become manifest to them what they had been concealing before. But if they were returned (to the world), they would certainly revert to that which they were forbidden. And indeed they are liars.
بَلْ bal Nay
بَدَا badā became manifest
لَهُم lahum for them
مَّا what
كَانُوا۟ kānū they used to
يُخْفُونَ yukh'fūna conceal
مِن min from
قَبْلُ ۖ qablu before
وَلَوْ walaw And if
رُدُّوا۟ ruddū they were sent back
لَعَادُوا۟ laʿādū certainly they (would) return
لِمَا limā to what
نُهُوا۟ nuhū they were forbidden
عَنْهُ ʿanhu from it
وَإِنَّهُمْ wa-innahum and indeed they
لَكَـٰذِبُونَ lakādhibūna certainly are liars

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(No, it is not so.) Rather, what they used to hide [32] before will become clear to them. And even if they were sent back, they would still do the same things they were forbidden from. Indeed, they are truly liars.

[32] That is, their effort was that no one should even listen to those arguments by which the truth became clear, and that a veil should remain over them. When they see the truth with their own eyes in its manifest form, then the wish to return to the world and the promise to live as obedient servants will not be made out of eagerness and desire, but rather it will be a forced promise after seeing the punishment of Hell. That is why Allah Almighty has said that these wretches are still lying, because even if they are sent back to the world, these unfortunate ones will still do the same as they did before. Then, becoming engrossed in the pleasures of the world, they will again indulge in disobedience to Allah and forget their promise, just as often when a person is caught in troubles and illnesses, he turns to Allah and repents, but after being saved from that trouble, when he spends a few days in comfort and ease, he does not even remember what promises and pledges he had made at that time.
