Say: "Bring forward your witnesses, who can testify that Allâh has forbidden this. Then if they testify, testify not you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) with them. And you should not follow the vain desires of such as treat Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) as falsehoods, and such as believe not in the Hereafter, and they hold others as equal (in worship) with their Lord."

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

150. Say, "Bring your witnesses who can testify that Allah has truly forbidden these things." And if they testify, do not testify with them, nor follow the desires of those who deny Our signs, and those who do not believe in the Hereafter, and who set up equals with their Lord.

The Reason for Demanding Testimony from the Jews:

Here, testimony means testimony based on certainty, and that is, they should testify that indeed such and such things Allah has declared lawful or unlawful for such and such people. Obviously, they could not give such testimony. However, if some people stubbornly insist on giving false testimony, then you should not side with them. This testimony is not being demanded from them so that if they give it, you would accept their word, but rather it is being demanded so that when they are unable to present such testimony, perhaps some people of sound mind may refrain from such polytheistic customs which are entirely based on superstitions and conjecture. And only those people can be ready to give such false testimony who do not believe in the Day of the Hereafter and in being answerable for their deeds before Allah. Such people are the ones who deny the signs of Allah and, by taking the rulings of lawful and unlawful into their own hands, set themselves up as equals to Allah.
