سُوْرَةُ الْاَنْعَامِ
Surah Al-An'aam (6) — Ayah 131
ذَٰلِكَ أَن لَّمْ يَكُن رَّبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ بِظُلْمٍ وَأَهْلُهَا غَـٰفِلُونَ ﴿131﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
This is because your Lord would not destroy the (populations of) towns for their wrong-doing (i.e. associating others in worship along with Allâh) while their people were unaware (so the Messengers were sent).

131. This testimony will be so because your Lord does not destroy towns unjustly while their people are unaware [139].
[139] It is not Allah’s way to destroy people in this world or punish them in the Hereafter without warning them of the consequences of their sins. That is why Allah sent countless prophets for the guidance of people and to warn them, and in one place in the Quran He said: ﴿وَاِنْ مِّنْ اُمَّةٍ اِلَّا خَلَا فِيْهَا نَذِيْرٌ﴾ meaning, there is no town but that a warner was sent to it. And these warners were for both jinn and humans. Then, whoever responded to the call of these prophets and performed righteous deeds, each will be granted ranks according to his deeds.
