Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
Verily, you (believers in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism) are more fearful in their (Jews of Banû An-Nadîr) breasts than Allâh. That is because they are a people who comprehend not (the Majesty and Power of Allâh).

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
13. Surely, you strike more terror [17] in their hearts than Allah. That is because they are a people who do not understand [18].
[17] That is, the reason why the hypocrites did not fulfill the promises they made to Banu Nadir is not because they feared Allah, or because they had begun to value their claim to Islam, or because they were afraid that on the Day of Judgment they would be punished for the crime of supporting the disbelievers. Rather, the real reason is that they have become so overawed by the mutual unity among true Muslims like you and by your willingness to risk everything in the way of Allah, that they are convinced that if they go out to fight in support of the Jews, they themselves will be destroyed along with the Jews.
[18] True understanding is that one should fear only Allah and not fear anyone else in comparison to Him. But these people just do not fear Allah; all other kinds of dangers keep looming over their heads. Therefore, wherever they see a way to save themselves, they set aside all their promises and turn in that direction.
