Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

43. And will be in the shade of black smoke [23].

[23] Among the basic meanings of ﴿يَحْمُوْمٍ﴾ and ﴿حَمَّ﴾ is also "to be black," and ﴿حُمَّة﴾ means coal, ash, and anything burned in fire, while ﴿يحموم﴾ refers to such smoke that is hot, black, and thick. That is, the black smoke that will rise from the fire of Hell—they will go to seek refuge in its shade. In the worldly life, they had spent their time in prosperity and, out of arrogance, had stubbornly opposed Allah and His Messenger. Today, they will be roasted in the heat of such hot smoke and will be humiliated and disgraced to the same extent.
