سُوْرَةُ الرَّحْمٰنِ
Surah Ar-Rahmaan (55) — Ayah 68
فِيهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ ﴿68﴾

68. In both of them will be fruits [42], date palms, and pomegranates.
[42] ﴿فَكِهَ﴾ means natural happiness, cheerfulness, and being one who makes others laugh and smile. The meaning of ﴿فَكِهَ﴾ is both to feed someone fruit and to make someone happy with sweet speech. Fawakih refers to such fruits whose main purpose is to provide pleasure, delight, and enjoyment, not nutrition. After this, dates are mentioned, which, when combined with water, become a complete food. Then, if instead of water, the juice of pomegranate is mixed with dates, all purposes are fulfilled: eating, drinking, and pleasure and delight as well.
