And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a portion of torment like to the evil portion of torment (which came for) their likes (of old); so let them not ask Me to hasten on!
فَإِنَّ fa-inna So indeed

مِّثْلَ mith'la like

أَصْحَـٰبِهِمْ aṣḥābihim (of) their companions

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

So the share [51] of these wrongdoers has also been filled, just as the share of people like them was filled before. Therefore, let them not demand that I hasten (the punishment).

[51] A bucket or pail used to draw water from a well, if empty, is called "dalu," and if filled, it is called "zanub." The meaning here is that, in terms of opposition to the call of truth, these tyrants of Makkah have also reached the same low point. And their measure of survival is now full, just as it happened with those like them and those tyrants before them. And now Allah's punishment is about to descend upon them. (From this verse, it is understood that this Surah was revealed in the last period of the Makkan life.) Therefore, there is no need for them to hasten. Now, the bucket filled with their sins is bound to sink.
