Say: "O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Do you criticize us for no other reason than that we believe in Allâh, and in (the revelation) which has been sent down to us and in that which has been sent down before (us), and that most of you are Fâsiqûn [rebellious and disobedient (to Allâh)]?"

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

59. Say to the Jews: "What is it that makes you resent us, except that we believe in Allah, and in what has been sent down to us and what was sent down before [101] us?" Most of them are rebellious.

In Fact, the Jews and Christians Should Have Loved the Muslims:

The real reason for the Jews’ enmity towards the Muslims and the Prophet of Islam was that the Last Prophet was not sent from among the Jews themselves. They could not openly express this, so instead, to vent their inner jealousy and frustration, they would malign the Prophet of Islam in various ways and cause him distress. Allah has answered their real grievance at several places, stating that prophethood is not your monopoly, that no matter how many breaches of trust you commit, prophethood must remain within your lineage. Prophethood is a grace from Allah; He grants it to whomever He deems appropriate. In this verse, Allah commands His Prophet to ask these Jews what harm have we done to you that you have become perpetually hostile towards us. We believe in the Torah, in the Gospel, and in all the Prophets. In this sense, it should have been us who harbored enmity towards you, because you neither believe in the Quran nor in me. But here, the situation is completely the opposite.
