Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

46. And after those prophets, We sent Jesus, son of Mary, confirming the Torah that had come before him. We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light, confirming what was before it of the Torah [85], and as a guidance and admonition for the God-fearing.

Why is there a Need for a New Revealed Book?

That is, Sayyiduna Isa (Jesus) ؑ was not a prophet who brought a new religion. He himself verbally affirmed the previously revealed books, and this is also mentioned in the Gospel. It should be clear that the task of a prophet who comes later is that if the previous community, by writing commentaries and explanations of the Book of Allah, has created differences through interpretations in its meanings and concepts, or has deviated from the path of truth in beliefs and actions, or has made some alterations or additions in the Book of Allah, then he should inform the people of all these matters and strive to bring them back to the path of truth. For this task, it is necessary to have a foundation, and that foundation is the divinely revealed book itself. Therefore, it is essential for every prophet and his followers to have faith in its being divinely revealed. Thus, Sayyiduna Isa ؑ and the prophets and communities before him affirmed the Torah, and Muslims affirm all previous prophets including Sayyiduna Isa ؑ, and the Torah and the Gospel, in fact, all heavenly scriptures, because after Isa ؑ and until the Prophet of the Last Age, no prophet came, nor was any heavenly book revealed after the Gospel and before the Quran, as is clear from the following hadith.

The Prophets are Paternal Brothers:

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah ؓ says that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Among all people, I have the closest relationship with Isa son of Maryam ؑ (in this world and the Hereafter). All the prophets are paternal (half) brothers. Their father (i.e., beliefs) is one, and their mothers (i.e., subsidiary matters) are different. There is no prophet between me and Isa."
