O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Now has come to you Our Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) making (things) clear unto you, after a break in (the series of) Messengers, lest you say: "There came unto us no bringer of glad tidings and no warner." But now has come unto you a bringer of glad tidings and a warner. And Allâh is Able to do all things.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

19. O People of the Book! Our Messenger has now come to you, making the commands clear to you after a break [50] in the coming of messengers, lest you say, "No bearer of glad tidings or warner ever came to us." So now a bearer of glad tidings and a warner has come to you. And Allah is Powerful over all things.

The People of the Book Awaited the Last Prophet:

Among the Children of Israel, multiple prophets were sent at the same time in one era. Both religious and worldly leadership was with them. After Sayyiduna Isa ؑ, the chain of prophethood was discontinued and remained so for six hundred years. After that, the Last Prophet was sent. The Jews used to await this Prophet and would say to the polytheists that when the Last Prophet comes, we will gather under his banner and gain victory over you. But when the Last Prophet arrived, the Jews recognized him exactly as he had been foretold to them. Then, solely on the basis that he was not from the Children of Israel, they denied his prophethood. Allah Almighty is addressing these Jews, saying that the bearer of glad tidings and warner whom you were awaiting has come. Now you have no excuse left. Therefore, if you now deny him, know well that Allah Almighty is fully capable of punishing you for this crime of disbelief. Like the Jews, the Christians were also awaiting the Last Prophet, and they thought that this Prophet would be from among them, and that they would join him to take revenge on the Jews. But when their wish was not fulfilled, most of them also became opponents of the Last Prophet.
