Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

28. This is because they followed that which angered Allah and disliked seeking His pleasure [32], so He rendered their deeds void.

[32]
In the Battle Between Truth and Falsehood, Whoever Sides with the Disbelievers Is No Longer a Muslim:

Allah’s pleasure was that they should have supported the Muslims, not the Jews. But instead of seeking Allah’s pleasure, they chose the path of hypocrisy and preferred the approval of the Jews. Therefore, all the good deeds they performed after verbally embracing Islam—such as offering prayers with the Muslims, fasting, or spending wealth in the way of Allah—Allah will render all such deeds void. From this, a very important point is learned: if, in the battle between Muslims and disbelievers, a Muslim’s sympathies lie with the disbelievers, then he is no longer a Muslim, and whatever good deeds he may have done are also wasted.
