Or say they: "He (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) has fabricated it." Say: "If I have fabricated it? still you have no power to support me against Allâh. He knows best of what you say among yourselves concerning it (i.e. this Qur’ân)! Sufficient is He as a witness between me and you! And He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful."

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

8. Or they say, "He has fabricated it himself [9]." Say, "If I have fabricated it myself, you have no power to protect me from Allah (His grasp) in anything [10]. He knows best what you are engaged in concerning it. He is sufficient as a witness between me and you, and He is the All-Forgiving [11], the Most Merciful."

[9]
Self-Fabricated Speech or Magic?

That is, they themselves would contradict their previous statements. Because these two things are contradictory. If this Quran is magic, then it is not your own speech, and if it is your own fabricated speech, then it cannot be magic.

[10] That is, if I have myself composed this speech and attributed it to Allah, and have lied against Allah, then surely Allah will punish me for this fabrication. You will not be able to save me from it, nor do you have the power to do so. However, the deeds you are engaged in are certainly such that Allah can punish you for them, and He is watching all your actions. Therefore, you should be concerned about your own deeds and their consequences.

[11] There are two meanings to this sentence here. One is that Allah is watching all our deeds but does not punish, otherwise, if He were like merciless kings, people would have been destroyed long ago. It is His mercy that He tolerates and forgives all such things. The second meaning is that even now, if you give up your stubbornness, Allah, out of His grace, will forgive your sins.
