And indeed We had firmly established them with that wherewith We have not established you (O Quraish)! And We had assigned them the (faculties of) hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and hearts; but their hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and their hearts availed them nothing since they used to deny the Ayât (Allâh’s Prophets and their Prophethood, proofs, evidence, verses, signs, revelations) of Allâh, and they were completely encircled by that which they used to mock at!

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

26. We had given them power such as We have not given you. And We had given them hearing, sight [39], and hearts—everything. But their hearing, sight, and hearts were of no use to them when they denied the signs of Allah, and they were surrounded by what they used to mock.

[39] That is, He had given them ears to hear, eyes to see, and hearts to ponder. But they used them only as much as an animal does. That is, only to the extent that was useful for acquiring worldly goods and possessions. They were intelligent in worldly matters, but did not attain the intellect that would set their Hereafter right. When they heard the signs of Allah, their ears would become deaf, and when it came to seeing the signs of Allah, their eyes would remain closed. Then, when the punishment of Allah came upon them, their intelligence was of no use to them.
