Then We have put you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) on a (plain) way of (Our) commandment [like the one which We commanded Our Messengers before you (i.e. legal ways and laws of the Islâmic Monotheism)]. So follow you that (Islâmic Monotheism and its laws), and follow not the desires of those who know not. (Tafsir At-Tabarî).

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

Then We set you on a clear way of religion [25]. So follow it, and do not follow the desires of those who do not know.

The Leadership of Establishing the Religion Transferred from the Children of Israel to the Ummah of Muhammad:

In this verse, "command" refers to the establishment of the religion. That is, O Prophet! Previously, for the guidance of the people of the world, We made the Children of Israel the standard-bearers of establishing the religion. They, however, split into many sects and began to quarrel and fight among themselves. In such a state, how could they fulfill the duty of establishing the religion? In fact, they were no longer worthy of it. Now, We have honored you with the position of leadership in establishing the religion. And the Shariah that is being given to you contains complete and clear instructions for establishing the religion. You should simply continue to act according to these commands and instructions. Every sect among the Children of Israel will expect you to support its position. Do not listen to any of them, because these people formed these sects not on the basis of knowledge, but due to following their own desires.
