Surah Al-Jaathiya (45) — Ayah 13

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مِّنْهُ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ﴿13﴾
And has subjected to you all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth; it is all as a favour and kindness from Him. Verily, in it are signs for a people who think deeply.
وَسَخَّرَ wasakhara And He has subjected
لَكُم lakum to you
مَّا whatever
فِى (is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti the heavens
وَمَا wamā and whatever
فِى (is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ l-arḍi the earth
جَمِيعًۭا jamīʿan all
مِّنْهُ ۚ min'hu from Him
إِنَّ inna Indeed
فِى in
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika that
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ laāyātin surely are Signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢ liqawmin for a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ yatafakkarūna who give thought

And He has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth—all of it. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect.

The Benefit of All Things in the Universe for Man:

That is, all things in the universe are necessary for the survival of man, and every single thing brings some benefit to him. For example: water, air, the produce of the earth and the treasures buried within it, the sea, mountains, the sun, the moon, the stars—in short, everything has been created for the benefit of man. They themselves have no benefit of their own. And the proof of this is that if even one of these things were missing, man could not survive, or his life would become difficult and he would be deprived of many kinds of benefits. Furthermore, man has been given the ability to discover the properties of things in the universe and to keep obtaining new and new benefits from them. Man receives nothing but benefit from these things, and he cannot benefit them in any way. And all of this is Allah’s grace and mercy upon man, that out of His kindness He has put all things in the universe to work for man. So, can this be the proper recompense for Allah’s favors—that man does not even thank his Beneficent Lord? Or that instead of worshipping and serving Him, he begins to act arrogantly before Him?
