Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

[25] The Literal Meaning of Bala', Allah's Favors Upon the People of Musa:
The basic meaning of "bala’" is such a trial that is related to incidents and events which other people can also witness. And this trial can be in both forms: good and bad. That is, by bestowing favors or by causing hardship or difficulty. In this context, the trial occurred in the form of goodness. That is why some translators have translated this word as "favor" and some as "help." Meaning, after the drowning of Pharaoh, Allah bestowed such favors upon the Children of Israel in which there was both help and trial, and by this is meant those favors of Allah which He bestowed upon the Children of Israel in the wilderness of Tih, without which their survival would have been impossible, and all these favors were of the nature of miracles. Such as the descent of manna and quails, the gushing forth of twelve springs, and the cloud providing shade over them, etc.
