لَقَدْ جِئْنَـٰكُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَكُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَـٰرِهُونَ ﴿78﴾
Indeed We have brought the truth (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم with the Qur’ân) to you, but most of you have a hatred for the truth.
لَقَدْ laqad Certainly
جِئْنَـٰكُم ji'nākum We have brought you
بِٱلْحَقِّ bil-ḥaqi the truth
وَلَـٰكِنَّ walākinna but
أَكْثَرَكُمْ aktharakum most of you
لِلْحَقِّ lil'ḥaqqi to the truth
كَـٰرِهُونَ kārihūna (are) averse

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

We certainly brought you the truth, but most of you [73] detested the truth.

[73] These words could be those of the angel of Hell, Malik, who is speaking as the deputy of Allah Almighty. Or they could be from Allah Almighty Himself. That is, such a severe punishment is being given to you because you did not even tolerate listening to the true words conveyed by Allah Almighty. This is the treatment for your very arrogance.
