Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
57. And when the example of Jesus, son of Mary, was presented, your people raised an uproar [55] about it.
[55] The Entry of Deities into Hell and the Matter of Sayyiduna Isa (Jesus):
When this verse from Surah Al-Anbiya ﴿اِنَّكُمْوَمَاتَعْبُدُوْنَمِنْدُوْنِاللّٰهِحَصَبُجَهَنَّمَ﴾[98:21] "That is, you and the things which you worship besides Allah will all be fuel for Hell" was revealed, the polytheists of Makkah raised the objection that Isa (Jesus) ؑ is also worshipped. So, will he also be fuel for Hell? Then they began to widely propagate this objection. Abdullah bin al-Ziba'ra raised this very question to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he remained silent, because he preferred that the answers to such objections from the polytheists should be revealed through revelation rather than giving a personal response. Upon his silence, the polytheists began to laugh loudly and openly, implying that their argument had silenced Muhammad ﷺ. In other words, they felt they had presented such a decisive argument that they had won the debate.
