Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
36. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of the Most Merciful, We appoint for him a devil, who becomes his companion.
[36] Ya'shu (root: 'ashw) — the basic meaning of 'asha is not being able to see things clearly due to darkness, and sometimes this word is used simply for the time of darkness. It also means not being able to see at night, being night-blind, or blind at night. And here, by ya'shu is meant deliberately not trying to see something and closing one's eyes. That is, whoever wants to deliberately remain heedless of Allah's remembrance, or the admonition that has come from Him, or the Quran, a special devil is imposed upon him who stays with him at all times, whispers into his heart, and keeps him heedless of Allah's remembrance until he finally leads him to Hell.
