[40] The Condition of Righteous Deeds for the Acceptance of Supplication:
The condition of righteous deeds has been set for the acceptance of supplication. Among these righteous deeds, earning lawful (halal) sustenance is a very great righteous act. Because if a person's earnings are not lawful, his supplication will not be accepted, as the Prophet ﷺ said: "A person comes from afar, disheveled and distressed, and if he holds the covering of the Ka'bah and says, 'O Lord, O Lord, accept my supplication,' but how can his supplication be accepted when his food is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, and his flesh and bones are nourished from unlawful earnings?"
