ذَٰلِكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَمْرَحُونَ ﴿75﴾
That was because you had been exulting in the earth without any right (by worshipping others instead of Allâh and by committing crimes), and that you used to rejoice extremely (in your error).
ذَٰلِكُم dhālikum That was
بِمَا bimā because
كُنتُمْ kuntum you used to
تَفْرَحُونَ tafraḥūna rejoice
فِى in
ٱلْأَرْضِ l-arḍi the earth
بِغَيْرِ bighayri without
ٱلْحَقِّ l-ḥaqi right
وَبِمَا wabimā and because
كُنتُمْ kuntum you used to
تَمْرَحُونَ tamraḥūna be insolent
