But if a bounty (victory and booty) comes to you from Allâh, he would surely say - as if there had never been ties of affection between you and him - "Oh! I wish I had been with them; then I would have achieved a great success (a good share of booty)."

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

73. But if bounty from Allah comes to you, he will surely say—as if there had never been any bond between you and him—"Oh, I wish I had been with them, then I would have achieved a great success!" [102]

[102] And if the Muslims attain victory and happiness, and gain spoils of war, they say with regret that if we had also been among them, our work too would have been accomplished. And they utter this sentence in such a manner as if previously they had no connection whatsoever with the Muslims. And in both these situations, they are concerned only with worldly hardship and worldly interests. They never have any concern for the Hereafter or for the pleasure of Allah, and this is itself proof of their hypocrisy and of their lack of faith in Allah and the Hereafter.
