7. For men there is a share in what the parents and close relatives leave behind, and for women there is also a share in what the parents and close relatives leave behind, whether it is little or much [13]. Each has a fixed share.

The Share of Women and Children in Inheritance:

In Arabia, it was not customary to include women in inheritance; rather, a woman herself was considered part of the inheritance. By means of this verse, Allah Almighty has elevated the status of women from this humiliation and made them entitled to a share in inheritance. Also, the following rulings are derived from this verse:
(1) The share of women in inheritance; (2) Whether the inheritance is little or much, whether the property is movable or immovable, in any case, it must be divided; (3) In the presence of close relatives, distant relatives will be deprived; (4) The share of these close relatives is also fixed, the details of which are coming in verse 11 and verse 12 of this Surah; (5) Besides women, young boys were also deprived of inheritance, and only those sons were considered heirs who were capable of fighting enemies and taking revenge. According to this verse, young boys have also been given an equal right, and in reality, these children were the true orphans.
