But those among them who are well-grounded in knowledge, and the believers, believe in what has been sent down to you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) and what was sent down before you; and those who perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât ), and give Zakât and believe in Allâh and in the Last Day, it is they to whom We shall give a great reward.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

162. But among them, those who are firmly grounded in knowledge and the believers, they believe in what has been revealed to you [213] and what was revealed before you. They establish prayer, give zakat, and believe in Allah and the Last Day [215]. To such people, We will grant a great reward.

[213] Those who are firm in knowledge are those who seek revelation sent down from Allah and derive their evidence and guidance from there. They are not blind followers of tradition, nor are they bound by the imitation of their forefathers, nor by such customs and practices that, having found their way into the religion, have become a part of it, such as innovations, etc. Such were Abdullah ؓ bin Salam and his companions.

[214]
Those Who Receive Double Reward:

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever among the People of the Book (whether he is a Jew or a Christian) accepts Islam, he will receive a double reward: one reward for believing in his own prophet and the second for believing in Muhammad ﷺ."
[بخاری، کتاب الجہاد، باب فضل من اسلم من اہل الکتابین]

[215] At this verse, the response to the demand of the Jews comes to an end, which they had made to you that if the Quran were to be sent down to you all at once from the sky, as the tablets of the Torah were sent down to our master Musa ؑ, only then would we believe in you. In between, after mentioning the state of the Jews' faith in the Torah, their misdeeds, and their breaking of covenants, it is stated that the task of the people of knowledge is to have complete faith in the Book of Allah and then to fully adhere to its commands. They do not resort to excuses, objections, demands, or stubborn arguments. Such people are the ones who deserve a great reward.
