سُوْرَةُ النِّسَآءِ
Surah An-Nisaa (4) — Ayah 150
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن يُفَرِّقُوا۟ بَيْنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ نُؤْمِنُ بِبَعْضٍ وَنَكْفُرُ بِبَعْضٍ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَّخِذُوا۟ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ سَبِيلًا ﴿150﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
Verily, those who disbelieve in Allâh and His Messengers and wish to make distinction between Allâh and His Messengers (by believing in Allâh and disbelieving in His Messengers) saying, "We believe in some but reject others," and wish to adopt a way in between.

150. Those who deny Allah and His messengers and seek to make a distinction between Allah and His messengers, and say, “We believe in some and disbelieve in others,” and wish to adopt a way in between [199]—

The Meaning of Making Distinction Between Allah and His Messengers:
Those who deny Allah and His messengers refer to atheists, materialists, or naturalists, and there are some people who believe in the existence of Allah or the Creator of the universe but do not believe in the messengers. This is the group of some philosophers and scientists, because according to their view, the existence of the universe without a Creator and the presence of such a coherent and organized system in it is logically impossible. And the third group is the one that believes in Allah and some of His messengers but does not believe in others. For example, the Jews did not believe in Sayyiduna ‘Isa (Jesus) ؑ nor in some other prophets, nor in the Last Prophet. And the Christians believe in the rest of the prophets but do not believe in the Last Prophet, even though glad tidings of every coming prophet were present in their books. And those who adopt the third way refer to this third group or the People of the Book. Their faith was that they claimed to believe in Allah and the prophet of their time and to have faith in him. And their disbelief was that they denied the covenant their prophet took from them to obey the coming prophet or the glad tidings present in their books. In this respect, neither did they truly believe in Allah, nor in their own prophet, nor in their own book.
