إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ ٱزْدَادُوا۟ كُفْرًا لَّمْ يَكُنِ ٱللَّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ سَبِيلًۢا ﴿137﴾
Verily, those who believe, then disbelieve, then believe (again), and (again) disbelieve, and go on increasing in disbelief; Allâh will not forgive them, nor guide them on the (Right) Way.
إِنَّ inna Indeed

لَهُمْ lahum [for] them
وَلَا walā and not
لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ liyahdiyahum will guide them
سَبِيلًۢا sabīlan (to) a (right) way

137. Surely those who believed, then disbelieved [184], then believed again, then disbelieved, and then increased in disbelief—Allah will never forgive them, nor will He guide them to the right path.

Repeated Changes in Faith and Thought:

By this are meant the group of hypocrites and apostates who are always wavering, so that they may join whichever side appears stronger. Such people observe the direction of the wind, assess the circumstances, and follow the desires of their own souls; and as many times as the direction of the wind changes, that many times their faith and disbelief also change. Since such faith is of no benefit, the stamp of disbelief becomes more firmly set upon them. And the second meaning of increasing in disbelief is that not only are they themselves disbelievers, but they also make every possible effort to make others disbelievers and to block the path of Islam. For such people, there remains no way to come to the right path.
