And don’t be weak in the pursuit of the enemy; if you are suffering (hardships) then surely, they (too) are suffering (hardships) as you are suffering, but you have a hope from Allâh (for the reward, i.e. Paradise) that for which they hope not; and Allâh is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

104. And do not weaken in pursuit of the enemy people. If you are suffering, they are suffering as you are suffering, but you hope from Allah what they do not hope for. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

[142] That is, just as you suffer loss of life or pain in battle, so too does the enemy nation. Then, when they endure all this while being upon falsehood, why should you not endure it while being upon the truth? Moreover, whether any of you is martyred or returns home safely, in both cases you expect reward and recompense from Allah, which they do not expect at all. Then why should you not pursue them and eradicate them completely? In this matter, you must never show weakness or laziness.
