Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

How Many Mashariq and Magharib Are There?

Mashariq refers to countless easts. The sun does not always rise from the exact eastern direction; rather, in summer its east shifts towards the north, and in winter towards the south. The angle of the sun’s east is different every day; in this sense, there are 365 easts of the sun in a year. Furthermore, in this universe, not only the sun is revolving, but thousands of other planets are also in motion. And each of them has its own east or place of rising. In addition, changes also occur in their easts just like the sun’s easts. In this respect, the number of easts goes beyond our calculation. And Allah Ta’ala being Rabb al-Mashariq means that He alone is the Owner of the movement of all these planets and He alone has control over them, which means that just as Allah Ta’ala is the Owner of the easts, He is also the Owner of the wests. The magharib (wests) are not mentioned here, however, in Surah Ma’arij, verse number 40, magharib are also mentioned.
