سُوْرَةُ الصَّافَّاتِ
Surah As-Saaffaat (37) — Ayah 166
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ ﴿166﴾

And verily, we (angels), indeed are those who glorify (Allâh’s Praises i.e. perform prayers).

Seventy (70) Veils of Light Between Allah and Jibreelؑ:
The polytheists of Arabia considered the angels to be the daughters of Allah and their own deities. In these three verses, the actual reality is stated from the tongues of the angels themselves. That is, in contrast to your polytheistic belief, the angels themselves declare that each one of us angels has a fixed rank and position, beyond which we cannot advance. Accordingly, in a narration of Tirmidhi, once the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked Sayyiduna Jibreelؑ, "Have you ever seen your Lord?" Jibreelؑ replied, "Between me and Allah Almighty are seventy (70) veils of light. If I were to try to advance even a little beyond my position, I would be burnt." [ترمذی۔ بحوالہ مشکوٰۃ۔ باب بدء الخلق و ذکر الانبیاء]
And our state is such that we are always standing in rows in the presence of Allah, constantly engaged in His glorification and declaration of His Oneness, and ever awaiting His command.
