Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
146. And We caused a gourd vine [86] to grow over him.
[86] Arrangement for His Residence and Food:
﴿يَقْطِيْنٌ﴾ applies to every plant that does not have a trunk, such as pumpkin, cucumber, watermelon, etc., and especially it refers to the vine of the bottle gourd. And according to the majority of commentators, this very plant grew there. Its leaves are broad, which provide shade from the sun and the like. It is also said that flies do not come near this plant. How did Allah Almighty arrange his food? There is no explicit mention of this in the Book and Sunnah. Some commentators say that every day a deer would come, whose milk he would drink. Until, after a few days, he became able to walk around.
