Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

82. His command, when He intends to recreate a thing, is only that He says to it, "Be," and it is [74].

The Meaning of Allah’s Word “Kun” (Be):

One meaning of “Kun” or “Be” is that something comes into existence from non-existence. In such matters, generally Allah’s law of gradualness operates, as He created the heavens and the earth in six days (or six periods). Although, by His power, it is not impossible for Him to bring something into existence instantly from non-existence. And its second meaning is that the thing which Allah has created for a certain task and purpose, that thing immediately begins to perform that task. For this, only Allah’s command is needed, and that task begins at that very moment, and we can also call Allah’s command “spirit.” And you can understand its example like this: just as in a factory, huge gigantic electric machines are installed, but they remain standing motionless and senseless until electric current is passed through them or the switch is turned on. As soon as the switch is turned on, they immediately become active and start doing the work for which they were made. Exactly the same is the case with Allah’s command “Kun.” As soon as Allah wills, the thing that is required comes into being. The purpose is that the resurrection of all humans also depends only on Allah’s single gesture, will, or command “Kun.” As soon as Allah wills, all humans will instantly come to life and present themselves before Allah, and for humans, this will be a compulsory matter, without any alternative.
