And when it is said to them: "Fear of that which is before you (worldly torments), and that which is behind you (torments in the Hereafter), in order that you may receive Mercy (i.e. if you believe in Allâh’s religion - Islâmic Monotheism, and avoid polytheism, and obey Allâh with righteous deeds)."

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

And when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you [44] and what is behind you, so that you may receive mercy," (they pay no heed).

[44] This verse has two meanings: one is that the fate of previous nations is before you, and you yourselves are heading towards a similar end, because whenever a nation adopted the path of disobedience and rebellion against Allah, Allah broke its strength. The second meaning is that in the future, you will be held accountable for your deeds, so keep this in mind, as well as the deeds you have already done. If you become fearful of your bad end and learn a lesson, then it can be hoped that Allah will show mercy to you.
