Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
Whosoever desires honour, (power and glory), then to Allâh belong all honour, power and glory [and one can get honour, power and glory only by obeying and worshipping Allâh (Alone)]. To Him ascend (all) the goodly words, and the righteous deeds exalt it (i.e. the goodly words are not accepted by Allâh unless and until they are followed by good deeds), but those who plot evils, theirs will be severe torment. And the plotting of such will perish.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
Whoever desires honor, then all honor [14] belongs to Allah alone. Pure words ascend to Him [15], and righteous deeds raise them up. But those who plot evil [16]—for them is a severe punishment, and their plotting will come to nothing.
[14] The polytheists of Makkah were respected throughout Arabia because of the Haram of the Ka'bah. They thought that if they accepted Islam, this entire established game would be ruined. They are being made to understand that this honor is also granted to them because they are the caretakers and guardians of the Ka'bah. And it is Allah Almighty who made the Ka'bah a sanctuary. Neither you nor your deities had the power to make Makkah a sanctuary. Now, if you have girded yourselves to oppose the very Owner of the Ka'bah, then think: how can your honor remain intact? Honor will only be granted to the one who is obedient to Allah Almighty, because the source of all honor is the Being of Allah Almighty. You can never attain honor by becoming His enemies.
[15] The Mutual Relationship Between Pure Words and Righteous Deeds:
Pure words and righteous deeds are both inseparable and mutually supportive. Both confirm and assist each other. Pure words or statements ascend to Allah only when they are supported by righteous deeds. And if the deeds are contrary to the pure statements, then these pure statements can neither ascend nor be accepted by Allah. Similarly, righteous deeds ascend to Allah Almighty only when their foundation is upon pure statements or correct belief. If the belief is not correct, then such deeds will neither ascend nor attain the status of acceptance. Among pure words, the foremost is the Kalimah Tayyibah, which contains a complete refutation of shirk and an affirmation of pure monotheism. Then, the remembrance of Allah, supplication, recitation of the Quran, etc., are based on solid facts related to the Hereafter, etc. These words certainly ascend to Allah, but on the condition that they are also supported by righteous deeds or actions in accordance with those pure statements. The same is the case with righteous deeds; their acceptance is conditional upon their foundation being upon pure statements.
[16] How Did the Plot of the Disbelievers of Makkah Backfire on Them?
By evil plots is meant every scheme of the disbelievers by which the path of Islam could be blocked. And the entire life of the disbelievers of Makkah was spent in evil plotting. Until Makkah was conquered and the backbone of disbelief was broken. In fact, the disbelievers of Makkah made several attempts to end the life of the Prophet of Islam, but the most dangerous plot was the one proposed by Abu Jahl in Dar al-Nadwah, which even pleased Satan, as it was indeed a plot of the highest order. (For details, see the footnote of verse 30 of Surah Al-Anfal.) And this very scheme became the cause of their destruction in such a way that immediately after this conspiracy, Allah safely brought His Prophet out and settled him in Madinah. When the disbelievers resolved to take revenge, Allah made them suffer a humiliating defeat at the Battle of Badr. Seventy of their prominent leaders were killed, who were thrown with great humiliation into the pit of Badr. And as many were taken captive, so all their strength was sapped.
