سُوْرَةُ سَبَاٍ
Surah Saba (34) — Ayah 45
وَكَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَمَا بَلَغُوا۟ مِعْشَارَ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ رُسُلِى ۖ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ ﴿45﴾

And those before them belied; these have not received even a tenth of what We had granted to those (of old); yet they belied My Messengers. Then how (terrible) was My denial (punishment)!

Those before them also denied (the truth), and these people have not attained even a tenth [69] of what We had given them. Yet they denied My messengers, so see how severe was My punishment.
[69] That is, the previous nations that were destroyed were far greater than these Quraysh of Makkah in stature, physique, strength, wealth, luxury, and abundance—in every respect. These Quraysh of Makkah are not even a tenth compared to them. Yet, when those nations denied Our messengers, they were destroyed and ruined despite all their power and might. So, who are these people that they think they can escape Our grasp?
[69] That is, the previous nations that were destroyed were far greater than these Quraysh of Makkah in stature, physique, strength, wealth, luxury, and abundance—in every respect. These Quraysh of Makkah are not even a tenth compared to them. Yet, when those nations denied Our messengers, they were destroyed and ruined despite all their power and might.
