57. Those who hurt Allah and His Messenger [97], Allah has cursed them in this world and the Hereafter, and has prepared for them a humiliating punishment.
[97] The Forms of Harming Allah and His Messenger:
There are several forms of causing harm to Allah. The first form is shirk, which is associating others with Him in His essence and attributes. Thus, according to a Hadith Qudsi, Allah Almighty says that the son of Adam causes Me great pain when he says that Allah has a child. The second form is that all those who participate in hostile activities against the religion of Islam, in reality, cause harm to both Allah and His Messenger. And the third form is those who cause pain to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ through accusations and insults. Such occasions occurred frequently during the life of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. These people, in reality, are causing harm to Allah Himself, because the Messenger of Allah is appointed by Allah, and in this regard, obedience to the Messenger is, in fact, obedience to Allah [4: 80]. Similarly, disobedience to the Messenger of Allah is, in fact, disobedience to Allah Almighty. Likewise, to hurt and cause pain to the Messenger of Allah is, in fact, to cause pain to Allah. Then why would Allah Almighty not inflict a punishment of humiliation and disgrace upon such people?
