The Clans · Medinan · Juz 21 · Page 419

And if the enemy had entered from all sides (of the city), and they had been exhorted to Al-Fitnah (i.e. to renegade from Islâm to polytheism), they would surely have committed it and would have hesitated thereupon but little.
وَلَوْ walaw And if
دُخِلَتْ dukhilat had been entered
عَلَيْهِم ʿalayhim upon them
مِّنْ min from
أَقْطَارِهَا aqṭārihā all its sides
ثُمَّ thumma then
سُئِلُوا۟ su-ilū they had been asked
ٱلْفِتْنَةَ l-fit'nata the treachery
لَـَٔاتَوْهَا laātawhā they (would) have certainly done it
وَمَا wamā and not
تَلَبَّثُوا۟ talabbathū they (would) have hesitated
بِهَآ bihā over it
إِلَّا illā except
يَسِيرًۭا yasīran a little

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

14. And if the enemy had entered from all sides of Medina and they had been invited to fitnah, these hypocrites would have surely yielded to it and would not have hesitated much [19].

[19] That is, if the confederate disbelievers had invited them to fight against the Muslims, they would have immediately accepted and been ready to fight the Muslims without a moment’s delay. At that time, they would not have considered at all that their homes were unprotected, nor would they have worried that if they did not protect their homes, the enemy would plunder them. This is a major proof of their lies and hypocrisy.
