سُوْرَةُ لُقْمَانَ
Surah Luqman (31) — Ayah 7
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا وَلَّىٰ مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَسْمَعْهَا كَأَنَّ فِىٓ أُذُنَيْهِ وَقْرًا ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ﴿7﴾

And when Our Verses (of the Qur’ân) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not - as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment.

7. And when Our verses are recited to him, he turns away in arrogance as if he had not heard them, as if there is heaviness in his ears [8]. So give him the good news of a painful punishment.
[8] This is his indifference towards the signs of Allah, as if he does not even consider it necessary to listen to the signs of Allah. And even if the sound reaches his ears, he ignores it as if, due to hardness of hearing, he did not hear anything at all. And he does all this out of arrogance and pride; therefore, as a punishment for this arrogance, he will receive a painful torment.
